Great Thanksgiving Deserts
Even after everyone at your dinner table has had their fill of turkey and dressing this year at Thanksgiving, there’s always room for great Thanksgiving Deserts.
Pumpkin pie makes a great Thanksgiving dessert, and like many others is a traditional dessert found at most holiday dinner tables. Pumpkin pie is a relatively simple recipe, perfect for beginners wanting to start their own Thanksgiving meals. The pie crust should be baked separately, before the pie fill is added and then baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for almost an hour. A regular sized pumpkin pie will serve six to eight; depending on how big or small the slices are cut when served.
Free range fruitcakes are great Thanksgiving Deserts choices for those that don’t particularly care for the pies that are usually found on most holiday dinner tables. Fruitcakes are made of a nice variety of fruits; which include, but are not limited to; raisins, blueberries, cherries, apricots and currants with an array of spices to really add to the flavor of the cake when it is baked. Preparation time for a fruitcake isn’t long or very difficult and should be baked at 325 degrees for a little more than an hour. This cake recipe will be sure to please.
Pecan pie is another great Thanksgiving Deserts choice, traditionally found as a dessert in many kitchens during the Thanksgiving season. Pecans start falling off the tree this time of year; making the prices of pecans drop and cost significantly less to make. Pecan pies are made using common kitchen ingredients, such as butter, sugar, karo syrup, eggs, pecan and pie shells and the preparation time can be done in less than 10 minutes; less than the time it takes to preheat the oven. Bake this dessert at 350 degrees for a little more than an hour. You may need to make more than one pie as this sweet dessert will be eaten quickly and only makes six to eight slices.
Sweet potato pies are often made as a Thanksgiving Deserts as an alternative to the traditional pumpkin pie, based on the tastes of guests. Preparation time for a sweet potato pie is quick and easy, but don’t let that fool you; sweet potato pies take a long time to bake. These pies need to be bakes at 350 degrees for a little more than two hours and only serves eight slices, but is well worth the effort; especially if you don’t care for pumpkin pie.
No matter what great Thanksgiving desserts you choose when preparing for your holiday dinner remember; all that matters is spending time with friends and family members you love. Be thankful you have loved ones to spend this special holiday with and enjoy making memories that last for years.
